NCSoft has announced a major new expansion for City of Heroes/Villains: Going Rogue. The announcement follows what appears to be a blunder in sending out e-mails about the new expansion ahead of schedule.

A significant number of players received an e-mail yesterday advertising the new expansion, which will allow heroes and villains to change sides. The authenticity of the e-mail has now been confirmed by Castle on the US forums, the Going Rogue site and trailer are now up, and speculation has taken off on both the US and EU forums.

From the information currently available it appears that this will be a major paid for expansion, much like the combined paid expansion/Issue 6 launch of City of Villains, indicating that it will contain significantly more content than a standard issue.

Many players are now speculating that the expansion will contain new zones, new task forces and strike forces, power customisation and perhaps even new power sets or ATs.

The official site and trailer can be found here.

For more information and discussions see the US forum thread and the EU forum thread.

Legionnaires can discuss this exciting new development here.

With the new update to City of Heroes/City of Villains, players now have the opportunity to create their own missions and story arcs. And, as part of this, it is possible to use saved costume files. This gives players the chance to put their very own heroes and villains, or that of their super group colleagues, in the missions they create.

I am pleased to announce that, to assist Legionnaires with their Mission Architect efforts, we now have the facility to host costume files (and, of course, other files) right here on the Legion site.

Details of how to upload and download files to and from the Legion site are available in this thread.

Details of how to save and load costume files are available in this thread.

The new Liberty Legion site gallery is now live!

This new gallery is a significant step up from the original gallery, which some long term members of the site may remember. It is fully integrated with the main site, so any Legionnaire logged in here is also logged in to the gallery and can upload and edit pictures with ease.

Legionnaires should direct their attention to the menu bar above. Access the new gallery simply by selecting the "Gallery" button. Once inside, a variety of simple options present themselves. Members may upload pictures to any of the main albums set up on the site, including general pictures, real life pictures, in game character screenshots and Legion meets. No doubt more galleries will be added later. Legionnaires may also create their own personal albums.

As with all such installations, there may be some early problems or glitches. If you are having any problems, for advice about using the gallery, to make suggestions, or to participate in general discussion of this new feature, go to this thread.
