Trailer for new Issue  http://www.cityofheroes.com/goingrogue/

Sounds good but i reckon most current players will be at least trying CO so this issue had better be a good one to pull us back in. I've always liked the RWZ missions with co-op play , this could be a huge step up from that but as someone mentioned in the US forums it might spell the end for Villains?.

Can you post the details please Hibbeh. Its blocked at work.

This is a guess as I have not rta yet but if Heroes can go rogue, does that mean that Villains can be redeemed?

I have two heroes already lined up to go off the rails.  Wink

It is a video trailer so no details to reprint as such, MM.

It looks like there are two aspects to this. One is the long talked about "going rogue" option, which may cut both ways (by which villains might be able to become heroes as well heroes becoming villains). The other is something to do with Tyrant, from what I can see. Is this an invasion from Tyrant's dimension?

Looks really interesting, I have to say. Looking forward to hearing more about exactly what is going to be included in the issue.

Don't know if you can access the Official forums from work MM? if you can heres a thread http://uk.boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=GenDiscussUK&Number=1361283&page=0&fpart=1

If you can't heres a snippet of email that being sent to subscribers :-

Paragon Studios™ is proud to officially announce the next City of Heroes® expansion, City of Heroes Going Rogue™! This will be the first major expansion for the City of Heroes franchise since the launch of City of Villains® in 2005.
.
Praetoria, a utopian mirror to our own world, hides a dark secret. Exploring this mysterious alternate earth, the heroes and villains of this world feel an uneasiness of doubt creep over them. Loyalties are questioned. Choices are made. Lines are drawn. As they search for the truth behind Emperor Cole and his Praetorian guard, brutal foes and fierce allies emerge, turning this once blissful paradise into a battle ground.
.
City of Heroes Going Rogue officially opens the "mirror universe" of Praetoria and an all-new alignment system that explores the shades of gray that lie between Heroes and Villains. For the first time, Hero characters can become Villains and vice versa, enabling Heroes to cross over to the Rogue Isles™ and Villains to experience Paragon City™.
.
For more information, read the official press release and check out our new Going Rogue website to view the announcement trailer and register for the latest news and updates for City of Heroes Going Rogue

I'm more of the line of Villains being redemmed than heroes going Rogue. Until you mentioned it there it never crossed my mind of tuning one of my Heroes to the Dark Side but most of my Villains i can see "Seeing the Light" as it were.

Looks to me like this is going to be a big paid for expansion. Obviously, it would be nice to have spectacular new free content but I am figuring that if it is a paid for expansion it is going to have to have a hell of a lot of wonderful new shiny stuff to justify the cost. This could be big. Very big.

By the way, someone on the EU forums pointed to the market research that the devs did last year with regard to the future development of the game:

Will this be Issue 15 or higher? Will it see light of day this year or next year?

Is a fully paid for extra as Moon suggests so technically not an Issue but an expansion?

Speculation on the EU forum is that I15 will be within a month from now and that Going Rogue will be a big paid for expansion to be released in August or September. But that is merely speculation. However, I would be very surprised if, having released this trailer, it was not released in 2009. We shall see.  Wink

I wish I could access the forum from here. They must be going wild on speculation.

Sounds to me like this is just what the game needs. Being able to travel anywhere for missions, Paragon or Rogue Isles.

Perhaps if you cross the border as a hero or redeemed villain say, would you be open to PvP in the Rogue Isles and vice versa in Paragon.

Now that would be cool. Fighting crime/causing crime and keeping your head down at the same time.

Bring it on!

Can I dream of power customisation too?

There is feverish speculation on both the EU and US forums that this will include power customisation.

Love the ideas in this post from the US forums:

Quote
If this is going to be the same Praetorian world, and not an alternate version of an alternate version, I'm hoping we'll see an underground rebellion lead by Sir Recluse, Ghost Maiden, Steel Scorpion, and other alternate versions of Villians. And not all the Heroes have to be evil either. A Punisher-like Blue Steel would ROCK!!!

Boo if its an alternate world it won't affect realtime.

Will that not split the playerbase into thirds then?

More speculation. As someone on the US forums pointed out, when CoV was released it contained, 5 ATs, 10 zones, 45 contacts with story arcs and 5 TF/Trials.

If there is anything like that much content in this expansion, and without splitting the player base this time, but rather bringing parts of the player base back together, it could revolutionise and revitalise the game.

Don't panic. From what I can gather so far the alternate world stuff is only a part of it.

The game needs it. More players zooming about in the areas we already have would work wonders. Why limit those lovely maps to one particular ethical set? Open those worlds up and set us free from the shackles of ethos!
